XLinks
XLinks are to xml what <a href=""> is to html - a link. However, xlinks give you a lot more power than an html link (and a lot more ambiguity as to how to handle links!).
In BioXML, XLinks are currently used in the bx-link:simple_xlink element, although more may be added.
